October/November 2007
The Chamber Board met November 1, 2007, at 7:30 A.M. at the VFW building.
SIGN: We have received some comments that members do not notice the sign at its present location. We are considering moving it away from the building since the sign seems to blend in with the white building. We are having a piece added to the top of the sign which designates it as Adrian Chamber of Commerce sign. Patricia Pike has been gracious to allow us to set the sign on her property and we may try moving it further west away from the building. Please e-mail me if you have any comments about this. The sign is not to advertise business sales, etc., but member related events occurring in our community. It is for our membership use only.
CUP SALES: We have these available at the Adrian Bank, Harla’s Salon, Kreisler’s Floral, Head Over Heels Salon and the American National Insurance office (Chamber Office Location). I find friends and family who have ties to Adrian love these as a gift. New cups are being ordered for the 2008 year and will highlight the Vision 2007 update.
BAT: Thanks to Adrian Manor for hosting the October BAT. Wonderful homemade cinnamon rolls were served along with juice, fruit and coffee! It was delicious. Good food and good friends made for a pleasant start to our day. The November BAT will be hosted by the VFW at their building on west Main Street November 9th. Stop in by 7:30 or earlier(these guys are early bird) and visit for a while. This is a come and go so take a few minutes to say hi and have coffee before work. If you would like to host a BAT, please let us know. The Chamber phone number is 297-0004, or e-mail me.
QUARTERLY LUNCHEON: The Luncheon will be December 14th at Wimfields on Main from 12:00 to 1:00. PLEASE ATTEND! If you are going to have lunch anyway why not meet with us?
HIGHLIGHTS: October Highlight was Dogwood Kennels. The November Highlight will be Butler Abstract and Title. Watch the Adrian Journal for this article.
CHAMBER BUCKS: Remember to give Chamber Bucks as gifts to friends, employees and family. This must be spent at Chamber businesses. As of November 1st 2007 $10,266.00 in Chamber Gift Certificates has been cashed.
VISION 2007: Well what a great celebration. Even though it was cold and a little rainy the show went off with great success. The Chamber officers supported this with a booth serving hot chocolate, caramel apples and homemade ice cream. Previous year cups were used to serve the hot chocolate in the hope that this would bring these to the community and highlight our organization.
SIGHT AND SAFETY NIGHT: What a great event. The Lions Club does a wonderful job with this. We want to thank all the member business who set up on Main Street to give out treats. There were over 500 who came. This is a safe way for kids to observe Halloween.
UPCOMING EVENTS: The Chamber Board voted to continue the 10 Turkey Give Away and the Residence Christmas Decoration Contest. Please get a box out for the turkey drawing which will take place November 17th. Place it in your business along with some sign up sheets. We just need a name and phone number. Bring it by the Chamber office Friday afternoon November 16th. All boxes will be emptied into one container for the drawing. Turkeys must be picked up by December 31, 2007.
