December 2007
The Chamber Board met December 6, 2007, at 7:30 A.M. at the VFW building.
CUP SALES: We have these available at the Adrian Bank, Harla’s Salon, Kreisler’s Floral, Head Over Heels Salon and the American National Insurance office (Chamber Office Location). Fill these with candy or flowers for Christmas. New cups are being ordered for the 2008 year and will highlight the Vision 2007 update. They will sell for $5.00 each. Old cups will sell for $4.00 each. The Board voted to give each of the 4 restaurants Chamber cups.
BAT: January 2008, can you believe it? Where did the year go? The Board voted to use the 2nd Friday of every month as Business About Town (BAT) meeting day. Come by Computers 4 YOU on Main Street the 2nd Friday in January, January 11th, from 7:30 to 9:00 and help ring in the New Year! If you would like to host a BAT, please let us know. The Chamber phone number is 297-0004, or e-mail Patsy.
QUARTERLY LUNCHEON: The Luncheon was canceled for December.
HIGHLIGHTS: Highlights for December will be Bates County Memorial Hospital. What a blessing this hospital is to our county. Wonderful progress has been made over the years. Do you remember when the hospital was located in the north part of Butler? Watch for the article in the Adrian Journal.
CHAMBER BUCKS: Remember to give Chamber Bucks as Christmas gifts to friends, employees and family. This must be spent at Chamber businesses. As of December 1st 2007 $10,351.00 in Chamber Gift Certificates has been cashed.
UPCOMING EVENTS: The 10 Turkey Give Away was a great success. The Residence Christmas Decoration Contest is now in progress and will be judged the week of December 17th. Watch the Adrian Journal for the Winners.
ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING: A nominating committee has selected a slate of members who have been contacted and have agreed to serve for 2008 Board. Our yearly meeting is January 3, at 7:00 PM at Wimfields. We need everyone to attend and give your input on how we can best serve your business. A vote will be taken on the new Board. Nominations can be made from the floor but be sure if you nominate anyone they have agreed to serve.
On another note, This Chamber was formed after a meeting in the Adrian Bank lobby in January 2001. It is beginning its 8th year. I have been honored to serve on the Adrian Chamber Board and I have enjoyed serving as your president. I will be stepping down as president at the end of the year. The Chamber Board works hard to represent you and needs every member’s input and involvement to make this work. Please support your new Board and attend the BATs and Quarterly Luncheons.
